Kisawa Sanctuary, Benguerra Island, Mozambique

This new luxury eco-resort is the brainchild of ex-creative director of VistaJet Nina Flohr, who also founded a non-profit marine research facility on the island.

The island offers 12 one, two and three bedroom bungalows, which are positioned within a 300 hectare stretch of forest, beach and sand dunes. Each bungalow has its own private beach, an open-air deck, an infinity pool, an outdoor day area and kitchen.

While the paradise destination and stunning luxury will make the Kisawa Sanctuary always standout what The Luxury Travel Bible loves most is that each strategic decision made is informed by ‘extensive research in creating a positive impact for the people of Mozambique and its natural surroundings’. Even the name 'Kisawa' means unbreakable which defines the commitment 'to build a bond between people and place, life and land'.

The resort offers guests seven dining options and a stand-alone spa specialising in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Ayurvedic treatments. Guests are encouraged to get back to nature by part taking in activities such as snorkelling with turtles and reef fish to heading off on a hike to explore the abundant fauna and flora

The Luxury Travel Bible loves how the design and décor blends traditional Mozambican styles and skills with modern trends and techniques and impressively some of the resort was constructed using 3-D printing technology.
